Few people know but you can have a crystal farm at home. It is easy but someone need to be patient because the crystals grow up very slowly.

The “rock” in the left is one of my babies (I am have plenty waiting for me when I go working). It took almost a month to become (close to) a cube of 5mm of side.

Ok, stop talking and give the recipe. Put a glass of water and a lot of salt together. I am talking about kitchen salt. Keep putting salt and mixing until the mixture is not homogeneous anymore (you will start to salt in bottom of the glass).

Let the mixture for a while, until the water stay still and put the water in another glass. Keep this new glass of salty water in a warm place. In a couple of weeks, while the water steam goes away, the crystal will start to show up.
